Kristi Lear
Library Director

I grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa – one of the Quad Cities.  When I was young, I loved to read and write.  The first book I ever read by myself was Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss.  My love of reading and writing only grew stronger as I got older.  I spent a lot of time in my school library as well as the public library.  This love of reading and literature led me to Augustana College where I double majored in English and Religion with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies.

I moved to central Illinois with my family in 2010.  With the support and encouragement of my family, I decided to go back to school so that I could pursue my dream of working in a library.  I earned my master’s degree from the School of Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2018.

As director, I look forward to making sure that the Auburn Public Library meets and exceeds the information needs of the Auburn community.
